What Does Being Saved Mean?
Delivery from the consequences of sin. To be saved means to be saved from the wrath of God. We are all sinners in this fallen world and are condemned to eternity without God, therefore the urgent need to get saved. Because God is Just He must punish sin, He has also provided the (only) way to be saved. We need to be saved from
- The wrath of God
- The judgement of sin
- Slavery to sin
- Eternal death (Hell)
Jesus Saves
At the cross, Christ defeated satan on behalf of helpless sinners. When Christ rose from the dead on the 3rd day He completely conquered death. The devil has no authority over a Christian. Those who receive Christ will no longer be condemned to the Lake of Fire their sin debt was paid for in full.
“I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies. And everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die” (John 11:25–26)
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved” (Romans 10:13)
