The Gift Of God Is Eternal Life
SAVED BY FAITH ON CHRIST
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8,9)
Grace means undeserved favor. God graciously offers to you what you could not do for yourself. God’s gift to you is free. You cannot work for a gift you only receive it.
“To have eternal life you do not have to join a church or pay money; in fact, you can do nothing to earn eternal life. You simply accept the payment for your sins that God has already made for you. Believe the record God gave of His Son.
“You can trust Him to save you. Why not, right now, silently, tell God you believe that He paid for your sins on the cross, just like He said He did. ”
How to be saved. You must understand a few Bible facts;
- You are a guilty sinner in God’s eyes (and so am I).
- God is holy (morally perfect), without any sin. We are unholy, sinful. God hates sin.
- We deserve to be punished for our sins. The penalty for our sins, even if we commit just one sin (James 2:10), is a second death in the eternal Lake of Fire (Revelation 21:8; 20:12-15; Romans 6:23).
- But God in His unconditional love has made a way of escape (Romans 5:8-9).
- God sent His only begotten Son into the world to pay our sin debt (John 3:16). Jesus died for our sins on the cross, and was buried. Three days later, Christ resurrected bodily from the dead. Satisfying God’s demand that sin be punished. “It is finished” (John 19:30)
- Receive Jesus as saviour [be born again] – For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
(Romans 10:13)
This is “the Gospel” (i.e., Good News) “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: (1st Corinthians 15:3-4).
If you admit that you are a guilty sinner in God’s sight, and you receive Christ’s sacrifice on the cross as full-payment for your sins, believing that He raised up from the dead the third day, YOU ARE SAVED. Jesus is our sin payment! Salvation is not doing your best, it is having Christ’s best put to your account through receiving Him by faith
