Eternity, Where Will You Spend It?

If you should die today, were would you spend eternity? The Bible [God’s word] declares that when we die, we will spend eternity in one of two places, heaven or hell. God tells us that you can know for sure that you have eternal life.

Every Person Born Into This World Inherited A Sinful Nature.

“Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man [Adam], and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned” (Romans 5:12)

This Sinful Nature Produces All Sorts Of Evil Deeds.

“For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.” (Mark 7:21-23)

Sin Separates Us From God

When Adam sinned in Genesis 3:6, he ushered in death for all mankind. But it is not just inherited sin that causes spiritual death; our own sinfulness contributes. Ephesians 2:1-2 teaches that, before salvation, we are “dead” in trespasses and sins.

Isaiah 59:2 “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.”

God Cannot Allow Sin To Go Unpunished.

“For the wages (reward or earnings) of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23a)

“Then Death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.” (Revelation 20:14)

“But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8)

If we pay what we owe as sinners, we must spend an eternity in the lake of fire (hell).

You Cannot Save Yourself.

You cannot be good enough.
“…there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” (Romans 3:12)

You cannot be saved by keeping the law. Joining the church and being baptized will not even help save you.
“…by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.” (Galatians 2:16)

You are helpless. You cannot save yourself!
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselvesit is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

The Good News is!

In spite of your sin, God loves you and has done everything necessary for your salvation. God has provided a way for you to be saved from punishment and to have Eternal Life.

God placed your sins and the sins of the world, murder, theft, lying, adultery…. on Jesus Christ. While Christ was bearing all of your sins in His own body, God punished Him in your place to pay the sin debt you owe. This is not something God promised to do, it is something God has already done. On the third day Christ rose from the grave and showed His power over death.

“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)

“For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)

You Must Accept That Jesus Christ Has Already Paid Our Sin Debt. It is a fact Jesus Christ has already paid your sin debt. Jesus death and resurrection satisfied God’s just demand that sin be punished. How It Works – Standing before God, we are found guilty, without excuse and sentence has been imposed. Jesus appears on the scene and says, “I will take your place for you and serve your sentence for you. You may now go free.”

(How wonderful, how marvelous that Jesus should die for you and I, so that we may have forgiveness, be cleansed of sin and to be given the free gift of Eternal life !)

Salvation is a Free Gift, it Cannot be earned. In Order to Receive it, We Must Repent, Believe and Receive Christ, by Faith.

It is important to know that, repentance is Not Turning Over a New leaf. You do not have to change first in order to be saved. Repentance is a “change of mind” brought to your heart by the Holy Spirit through the Word of God. It causes you to turn from idols, dead religion, your efforts to earn salvation through your own works; to trust Christ alone for your salvation. God accepts you just as you are, sins and all.

“For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.” (2 Corinthians 7:10)

Receive God’s Free Gift, ‘Jesus’, Into Your Heart

To believe on the Lord Jesus Christ means that ‘By Faith’ you accept the fact that you are a sinner, that as a sinner you owe the sin penalty, and that Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the sin debt you owe. It means that you will completely trust in Christ alone to get you to Heaven.

“that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

“But as many as received Himto them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:” (John 1:12)

God, who cannot lie, promises that He will save you.  For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13)

Suggested Prayer

Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner deserving of hell. I believe you are the only begotten Son of God, the Saviour, who shed your blood to pay for my sins. I believe the Good News that you died on the cross to pay for my sins, that you were buried, and that you rose again three days later for my justification. I place my trust in you alone to get me to Heaven. I accept your free gift of forgiveness of sins and eternal life. Thank you, Jesus, for saving me! Amen
